I’ve been involved in the tabletop hobby for about five years, with miniature painting becoming one of my favorite parts of it. I love collecting and painting miniatures—probably far more than I’ll ever actually need—and there’s almost always another project waiting on my hobby desk. When I’m not painting, I enjoy tabletop miniature games, board games like Gloomhaven, and Dungeons & Dragons. I’m always interested in trying something new, especially when it means getting a group of people around the table.More than anything, I’m just another hobbyist who enjoys bringing people together around the table. My goal is to help build a community where people can meet new friends, find games, share their hobbies, and have a good time—whether they’ve been playing for years or are completely new.

I’ve been playing wargames for about 3 years. I first bought a kommandos kill team box but then realized the kill team group met on a night I couldn’t make regularly so immediately picked up the Battle for Osgiliath box set. I played MESBG locally for a year or so and then headed to Tennessee for my first tournament. We hosted the first Ranger’s MESBG tournament about 6 months later and that’s all she wrote. The thing I love most about the Rangers is that it encompasses every part of the hobby. We have people who are into competitive play, people who just play for fun, people who are lore nerds, people who are more focused on painting and every step in between. I also love that I can bring my son (who is 10 and has been playing with the group for two years now) and know that he’s going to have a good time and I don’t have to worry about him.I have too many interests in general which makes it hard to have time for any of them, it’s part of the reason Cody likes to pick on me about my unpainted miniatures (I’m getting there ok??). I enjoy rock climbing/bouldering with my daughter and about any kind of sport or activity outside when I’m not playing MESBG with my son.

I started playing war games in jr high in the late 70’s. In the 80s I got hooked on historical Napoleonics. Played for about 25-30 years. In 2017 I found MESBG and have been hooked ever since. I really enjoy playing in tournaments and have discovered over many years that you can be competitive without being off putting.I’m at the age now that it was the journey that gives the best memories and not the win at all cost. I love painting miniatures and know there are many more better than me and I’m ok with that. I love making conversions and terrain for our games. Being retired finally gives ample time for hobbying and instead of complaining that I don’t have time to hobby I now complain about my yard work. Complaining just changed to the yard 😊

I've been playing wargames for five years, starting with Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and Horus Heresy. These days I play MESBG, Horus Heresy, and 40k, all pretty casually. As an Officer of the Rangers, I've found this to be a group full of like-minded people who care more about camaraderie than competition. We're good at keeping each other motivated and in the hobby, whether that's talking paint or just making sure there are regular chances to get a game in. Come find me if you want to talk Horus Heresy or get into painting busts.Outside of hobbying, I spend my time with my wife and dogs, and I volunteer with a few other organizations around town.
